Expert Insights

These tips will help bring to life the mood you’re looking to create in your home.

Design Stress-Free Zones

Choose durable indoor/outdoor fabrics for upholstered chairs and sofas in your family room. Without the worry of stains or spills, you'll be able to fully enjoy kicking up your feet to relax.

Design Around Interests

Design your home around your interests. If getting lost in a new novel is your favorite way to relax, create a comfy reading nook. It’s as simple as finding a light-filled corner to put a cozy chair, a soft throw and a side table where you can place an aromatic candle or warm cup of chamomile tea.

Crafting Creativity

Unlocking your creativity through painting and crafting relaxes your body and mind. Turn a closet into a craft station, so that your craft supplies are organized and easy to find when you feel the urge to create. Store supplies in labeled decorative photo boxes and use the back of the closet doors to hang a large bulletin board for pinning crafting inspiration.

Lavender door hanging

Hang a bunch of lavender with a ribbon on the front door in lieu of a wreath. You'll be reminded that on the other side of that door is the relaxation you've been longing for.

Sunrise photography

Frame a picture of the sun rising and/or setting and place it near your bed or bathroom mirror for a reminder to relax and enjoy your days and nights.

Dried Lavender Seating Cards

Use dried lavender, or dry it yourself, either way, when woven into table seating cards, it creates a relaxing look and feel to any place setting. They make an especially nice touch for wedding/baby showers or tea parties.

Supplies List:

A bunch of lavender (fresh or dried)

Stationery paper

Needle & thread

Start by buying a bunch of lavender. If it's fresh, you have an additional, but fun and easy step: hang it upside down in a windowsill to dry. Either way, take the dried flowers and carefully remove each stem.

Cut the stationary paper to two times the desired size of the card (still needs to be folded) and poke two small holes at the top. Thread the lavender through the holes, then fold the paper in two, and write your guests' names upon them. Voila!
